Health and Nutrition

Learning is interrelated -- a child's growth and development in one area influences and depends on development in another area. One area of development and learning is not more important than another. A child's physical and cognitive development reinforce each other. Health and Nutrition services focus on the following:

  • Collaborating with families and the local community to promote the health and well-being of each child.
  • Facilitating children and families' access to health, mental health, and dental services.
  • Reinforcing healthy eating patterns and food safety in routine food services, special programming, and events for children and families.
  • Integrating health, safety and well-being into the program's ongoing activities, professional learning, curriculum, and assessment practices.
