Centers can only accept children of a specific age. When searching by age group, please choose based on your child's age as of August 31. Programs
Head Start: Federally-funded program that serves children ages 3 and 4 and their families.
ECEAP: State-funded program that serves children ages 4 and their families, with some centers able to accept 3 year olds.
Early Head Start: Federally-funded program that serves pregnant women and children ages birth through 2 years old and their families.Models
Part-day: Usually 2.5 - 3.5 hours per day, 4 days per week. There is no cost if family meets eligibility requirements.
Full-day: Combination of Head Start curriculum and traditional child care. There is a cost, but families can apply for a Child Care Subsidy from DSHS.
Family Child Care: Full-day programs located in a home, rather than a center or school.
Home-based services: Staff visit families in their home to provide services and lead socialization groups at a central meeting place.
