Building Bridges with Higher Education
Infant Toddler Caregiving
Module 1: Supporting Healthy Social and Emotional Development
Overview
This is the first “Building Bridges” module ELOP has offered in which students can interact with each other and the instructor in both English and Spanish. This dual language curriculum reflects our mission, and that of the Department of Early Learning, to extend meaningful professional development opportunities to students in diverse communities.
As you read the course content, you will see lectures and assignments in both English and Spanish. You have the option to read the lecture in English, Spanish, or both and to participate to the on-line discussion board in either language. The translated lecture and assigned reading materials provide the depth needed to achieve good understanding of the course learning goals.
However, due to copyright limitations, some of the articles and handouts that make up the required reading are included in English only. These English-only materials are intended to supplement the core content that has been translated. We expect that all students will read these English-only articles to add to your general understanding.
Important note : Though the course is offered in a dual language format, our college partners can award college credit only for assignments that are submitted in English and which are of college-level quality . Students who complete and submit assignments in Spanish will receive the 10 STARS hours but not the college credit. Please talk to your instructor if you have any questions about the course requirements.
