Module 2: Building a Caring Community with Children

Overview

Welcome to the second module of the “Child, Family and Community Relationships” course. This module is Part Two of three modules developed by Building Bridges with Higher Education Project and STARS, and offer through Puget Sound Educational Services District’s Early Learning Outreach Program (ELOP), local community and technical colleges, and community partners.

This module consists of four sections:

  • Building a Caring Community Around Children
  • Observing Gives Clues About Behavior
  • Building Relationships and Sharing Emotions Supports Self-Esteem
  • Relationships are Integral to Learning

For each of these sections, you will create an online portfolio of all of your work.  Your coursework and assignments will all be completed online.  You will update your portfolio as you complete your assignments.  A certificate of completion will be available online upon your successful completion, and credit will be awarded through the college you registered with.  You may email your instructor with questions, or post them on the discussion board if you are looking for feedback from fellow students.
